30+ Years in Practice
Dr. Ransdell’s excitement about dentistry began while in college working with dental teams on mission trips in Mexico & Peru. Those experiences led him to follow his step-father and mentor, Dr. Tom Guenther, into dental practice. After attending Saint Xavier High School in Louisville, Dr. Ransdell graduated with honors from Depauw University in 1984 and the University of Louisville Dental School in 1988. He completed a hospital residency at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center where he gained additional experience in IV Sedation, “smile makeovers”, & dental reconstruction. Appreciating his 26+ years of dental experience, Dr. Ransdell enjoys serving patients in both Jefferson and Spencer Counties.
He has served as President of the KY Academy of General Dentistry and the Louisville Dental Society and holds offices in the Kentucky Dental Association. In 2015 he was awarded a Mastership in The Academy of General Dentistry ( one of only 8 practicing in Kentucky) and was honored with induction into the American College of Dentists. He has lectured locally and has published nationally.
The Office participates with numerous charitable organizations. The office participates in Smile Kentucky clinics and screenings, RAM FREE Clinics, and The Donated Dental Services program. In the past, the office has sponsored an annual CANDY-BUY-BACK event that sends candy, supplies & donations to our Armed Forces. Currently, we provide a substantial annual donation to veterans support groups and support the Marine corps Toys for Tots Christmas program. During the holidays keep an eye out for the Ransdell family ringing bells at the Salvation Army Kettles.
Dr Ransdell founded the LDS/METRO FREE SMILES mobile dental clinic in Louisville & Surrounding areas. These FREE clinics have provided over $500,000 in free dental care to Louisville area underserved residents since 2015. He volunteers on the Family Community Clinic Board of Directors & worked to initiate the dental clinic there.
Dr. Ransdell’s favorite part of being a dentist is the joy expressed by patients after smile makeovers and the Smiles & Hugs of patients who formerly avoided dentists because of fear.
Dr. Ransdell and his wife, Beth, have two sons, and one dog. Outside the office, he pursues various interests, including stream fishing, hiking, reading, charitable dentistry, wine-making, welding, and construction.
